Tea Ceremony

The spirit of tea is the spirit of zen. The simple act of sitting in silence while enjoying a bowl of tea brings comfort and peace. An age-old ritual that invites mindfulness with each sip and a renewed sense of wholeness.

For me, sitting in tea is about being fully present. Sitting with tea is about friendship and simplicity. Sitting with tea is about slowing down and appreciating the small moments. Tea is love and harmony. I offer both private and public bowl tea ceremonies. To book a private individual or small group ceremony contact me through email or phone listed below. Public offerings listed under my events tab. For more tea inspiration you can find my Instagram tea account at @tea.is.bliss.

Bowl Tea Ceremony

This tea ceremony is a modern adaptation of old tea rituals. It has been created by a Zen and tea teacher, who has taught and shared this with fellow tea lovers over recent years. It is the art and simplicity of drinking tea from a bowl. It is not about brewing the perfect cup of tea, but more about enjoying the spirit of tea together. The tea plant in China was historically first used as medicine. There were rituals of decocting plants and herbs in a medicine pot. In this tea ceremony we get to enjoy this “tea medicine” from a bowl after it has been brewed in a special side handle tea pot. This ceremony is held in silence, honoring the connection between Zen and tea, and creating a space to be mindful while we sip tea together.
